Who said coffee has to be hot? One of my favorite Agua Frescas is Agua de Cafe.
My grandmother would sometimes make this during the hot summer months when I was little. She always used instant coffee because she didn't have room for a coffee pot in our small trailer. I still make it with instant decaf, so that my kiddies aren't bouncing off of the walls all afternoon. But you can use strong, brewed coffee.
And like a few of my Agua Fresca recipes, this can easily be made into a grown-up drink by adding a shot of Kahlua to each glass!
Agua de Cafe
Ingredients:
- 6 to 7 cups water
- 8 teaspoons instant coffee granules
- 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
Directions:
Fill a 2-quart pitcher with 6 to 7 cups of water. Stir in the instant coffee granules until completely dissolved.
Pour the evaporated milk into the coffee mixture and stir in the sugar until completely dissolved.
Serve with lots of ice. Enjoy!!! (For a grown-up version, add a shot of Kahlua to each glass.)

Iced coffee is one of my favorite ways to drink coffee. Add a little chocolate syrup for sweetness nad I'm all set.
